Leroy Sane has rejected a new contract at Manchester City. He will leave this summer if a deal can be agreed with another club.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich. A deal was reportedly close to being struck with Bayern last August before he sustained anterior cruciate ligament damage in City’s community shield game against Liverpool.
“Leroy said he doesn’t want to extend the contract so it means he wants to leave and it is going to happen this summer or when he is out of contract,” said Guardiola.
“The club have talked to me, they’ve offered two or three times to extend his contract, he rejected so it means he wants to play in another club.
“If at the end of this season we arrive at an agreement with another club, he is going to leave.
“If not he will stay one more year and leave when out of contract.”
Guardiola says he’s disappointed that Sane does not want to remain at City but says he has no ill will against the former Schalke 04 star.
‘’I’m disappointed, of course. When we make an offer to a player, it is because we want him, said Guardiola.
‘’We tried before the injury, we tried after and it was rejected. I said many times I want players who want to play with this club and commit to try to achieve our targets but of course we respect him.
‘’He’s incredibly a nice guy. I love him so much, He’s educated, a nice family. I had nothing against him but he decided he wants another adventure for his career.
‘’When this happens, we are going to help him until the last day he is here.’’
