Wilfred Ndidi has been ruled out of Saturday’s Premier League clash with defending champions Manchester City.
He previously missed Leicester City’s past two games against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers due to a knee problem.
Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers told reporters that he will not rush Ndidi back into action to avoid setbacks.
‘’Wilf won’t be available for the weekend, He’s still in a process to try and get fit, so we’ll see how he is next week. I’m not sure.
‘’He’s doing work inside, but you have to progress that to outside and then when he can join the team. It’s another intensity to join the team and then to play.
‘’We just want to make sure he’s right because he’s such an important player to us. It’s about the long term, too. There’s no timeline for it. We’ll see how he progresses.’’
The absence of the Nigeria International is a big midfield problem for Rodgers. Hamza Choudhury is suspended for the game against City and Namplays Mendy is ruled out with a knee injury.
Leicester City are third in the English Premier League table, four points behind second-placed Manchester City.
