A woman from Illinois just jumped down the Niagara Falls (90 -foot) onto the frozen banks while holding her son.
The woman died following the jump but the baby survived. The name of the woman has not been revealed. She deliberately climbed over a railing and deliberately jumped as reported by the police.
Niagara Falls straddle the border between Canada and USA. Her body was found at the cave of the Winds Complex on the US side.
The 5-year old body sustained head injuries for which he is being treated at a children hospital in Buffalo.
The boy was moved to a near by motor car to be stabilized and afterwards transported using a helicopter for specialized emergency treatment elsewhere.
Police were interviewing the husband as well as other witnesses after the sad incident happened.
‘Although today’s nice out it’s very icy down there so it’s real tough terrain that our guys and girls were able to get through and get to them and provide that life-saving care and do everything they could,’ said Rola.
‘We are not releasing any names due to the possibility of this case being a suicide,’ New York State Trooper James O’Callaghan told media on Thursday.
