Kisumu City Kenya is as hot as an oven
Kisumu City Kenya is as hot as an oven this afternoon. This may be due to its proximity to second largest fresh water lake named – Lake Victoria – and many other factors which are beyond my comprehension. The Lake is a namesake of Queen Victoria of England and a special resource for the Luo people of formerly Nyanza province.
I arrived here at quarter past 1 pm and decided to seek refugee in a food kiosk next to the Main Matatu Station.
While seated here I can see matatus for Kisii-Migori route jostling for passengers. They all have tough looking touts on the standby to force people into their vehicles for onward transmission to the next destination.
Being very hot I prefer a cold drink and some bites. In this case I go for chips or French Fries and Sprite – product of Coca Cola company.
This will leave me sweating since the iron sheet roofing over my head makes matter worse. Right now I feel like a sausage being prepared for consumption. Business men in Mombasa are clever in this respect, they have their roofs made up of makuti. Makuti is magical since it makes the place cool when it’s hot or warm when it’s cold. It’s kind of a thermostat which we studied in high school Physics.
Let me leave this oven for my next port of call.
