Kim Kardashian is keen to move on in life as a legally single woman and has filed documents for that to happen in her divorce with Kanye West.
Kim filed the docs on Friday which if approved by the judge, will make her officially single. She is basically asking the judge to separate the issues of property, child custody from marital status.
Kim is asking the court to enable her drop “West” from her name and restore her maiden name. Kim has hired an experienced lawyer, Laura Wasser, who has done similar applications for celebrity clients such as Kelly Clarkson and Dr. Dre.
Just hours before Kim filed for a change in marital status, Kanye West went on stage in Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and sang “Runaway” where at the end of the song he said “Run back to me … more specifically, Kimberly.”
Kim was in attendance and she brought along their kids Saint and North to watch their dad sing as a form of family support.
According to TMZ, Kim has already bought Kanye out of their Hidden Hills Estate for $23 million. However, there are other property issues which remain unresolved. The couple will get joint custody for the kids and will get committed to co-parenting.
It is now clear that divorce of not… Kim and Kanye remain a united front for their kids and provide emotional support. A couple of days ago, together they attended the funeral of their close friend Virgil Abloh.
Kanye West has made it the habit to sing songs for his estranged wife. For example, on Thanksgiving, he released a 5-minute long video in which he confessed his struggle with alcohol and the times when he embarrassed Kim including by wearing a MAGA hat.
Kanye has always maintained in recent interviews that Kim is “still” his wife but the new document in court will change all that and make them legally separate entities.
