Sharing is Caring

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is scheduled to announce the winner of presidential seat in Kenya 2022 at the Bomas of Kenya.

Leaders of all the four political parties which participated in the presidential elections are already seated at the Bomas of Kenya arena.

Kenya Kwanza and Azio La Umoja coalitions are heavily represented at the Bomas of Kenya.

It is also clear that the Bomas of Kenya is one of the most heavily guarded places in Kenya right now.

There are many security personnel inside and outside the Bomas of Kenya. This is to ensure that no one brings chaos once the presidential results are announced by IEBC chairman, Wafula Chebukati.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and and immediate Deputy President William Ruto, the two horses in the presidential race, are expected to participate in the announcement ceremony.

IEBC completed the verification of Forms 34A and Forms 34B just 6 days after Kenyans went to the polls.

All figures from all Forms 34B is compiled into one document known as Form 34C which the IEBC chairperson Wafula Chebukati is expected to use in  announcing the final winner for the presidential contest.

Kenyans of all political divide are waiting for the final results of the presidential race. From media highlights, Kenyans in Kisumu and Eldoret are waiting to receive the news of the presidential results.

What will happen next?

If there is a candidate who scored the 50% +1 or more of the total votes cast, then there will be a clear winner who will be sworn in as Kenya’s next president.

If no one reached that thresh-hold, then Kenyans have to prepare for a re-run in 60 days. In this case, only the candidate(s) who received the greatest number of votes and the candidate(s) who received the second greatest number of votes shall be the ones to participate.

Wafula Chebukati will announce the presidential results in a televised address at 3:00 pm.

If there is a clear winner, the IEBC Chairman will issue a certificate to the president-elect who must present himself physically to collect it.

The chairman of IEBC must deliver a written notification of the presidential results to the Chief Justice and the incumbent President.
