In a last minute decision, Kenya has withdrawn from the International Criminal Justice Case over a 160 square km disputed area in the Indian Ocean border with Somalia.
This means that Kenya will not participate in the hearing which will happen on Monday.
Kenya cited bias as the reason why they withdrew. The disputed area is thought to be rich in oil and gas.
Kenya demanded that a Somali judge in the case should recuse himself. Somalia filed the case in 2014 demanding that the maritime border should follow the direction of the land border.
However, Kenya responded and stated that the maritime border is drawn horizontally from the point where the borders of the two countries meet at the coast.
