Kenya prides itself as one of the midwifes of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically Goal 3 calls for reduction of maternal mortality, improving reproductive health, implement UHC, combating tuberculosis and malaria as well as HIV/AIDs.
African Union Agenda 2063
This Agenda has a vision of a healthy continent with highly productive inhabitants. However, it is sad to note that Kenya’s budgetary allocations to health are a far cry from the target of 15 percent set by the Abuja Declaration. Kenya has been spending on average 7 percent of the total budget on health for the years 2016/2017 to 2018/2019.
Othaya National Teaching and Referral Hospital
The health sector reports that Othaya National and Teaching Hospital became a national referral Hospital on May 2018. It receives patients from other hospitals for specialized treatment.
The Othaya-based hospital is managed by Kenyatta National Hospital as a level 6 healthcare facility to serve Mt. Kenya region in Kenya.
