Sharing is Caring

Kenya has introduced an electronic court filing system that will allow filing of cases virtually.

Through this system, prosecutors, lawyers and litigants will file cases and serve court papers to defendants from the comfort of their homes or offices.

Chief Justice David Maraga says the e-filing system, that was launched on Wednesday in Nairobi will enhance accountability and efficiency in the court system.

The system will be rolled out in the other parts of the country in coming weeks.

The system will change how the courts operates. Misplaced and missing files have often delayed cases in the past.

The e-filing of cases had faced challenges in the past but the coronavirus has forced the Judiciary to fully adopt it.

All court users will register themselves through a portal https://efiling.court.go.ke, log on to the system, upload documents and assess the fees to be paid.

Court operations in Mombasa were suspended last week after 11 staff of the Judiciary tested positive for Covid-19.

  1. Kudos! It’s been long getting here, and we hope to see it in the rest of the country soon.
