Harry Kane scored the 200th and 201st club goals of his career as Tottenham won 3-1 at Newcastle.
The England international had gone three games without scoring but he headed home twice, boosting Spurs’ hopes of qualifying for a European competition.
Son Heung-Min opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Matt Ritchie levelled the scores in the 56th minute. Kane restored the lead four minutes later before adding the third goal late on.
Kane’s 201 club goals have come in 350 appearances in all competitions with 185 of them for Tottenham.
Defender Serge Aurier showed showed great character to play just two days after the death of his brother.
It was Jose Mourinho’s first win at St James Park. The Portuguese tactician failed to win at Newcastle on six occasions with Chelsea and once with Manchester United.
Spurs are now 7th in the Premier League table with 55 points, one point behind Wolves with two games left to play.
