Prince Hamza Bin Al-Hussein, half-brother to King Abdullah II of Jordan has placed under house arrest for speaking out against incompetence and corruption according to senior royals.
However, authorities in Jordan released a stated indicating the form crown prince had ‘malicious plot’ to destabilize the kingdom.
United States of America and Arab governments sided with the king saying that the country is important in the volatile region.
In his criticism, the prince did not name the king. However, King Abdullah II reacted strongly accusing the Prince of serious crimes and putting him under house arrest.
King Abdalla II and Prince Hamza are both sons of King Hussein who died over 20 years ago.
Abdalla ascended to the throne in 1999 and named Hamza as a crown Prince. He revoked the titled half a decade later.
Hamza is very popular in Jordan. He is seen as modest and pious. Jordan is a country with a population of 10 million people.
Pundits have already indicated that the house arrest is likely to strengthen the popularity of Prince Hamza.
