Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) has released a memo indicating that students caught using computer software such as ChatGPT during examinations, will be expelled.
This will be considered cheating in examinations. Further, JKUAT Examinations Disciplinary Committee directed that if found with electronic devices such as mobile phones, iPod, MP3/MP4 players, programmable calculator it will amount to an examination irregularity punishable from university for one academic year.
The use of software such as ChatGPT is now a serious offence punishable through expulsion from the institution.
This information was communicated in a memo by the University Registrar Academic Affairs, Dr. Aggrey Wanyama.
