Millionaire Ryuji Arai has a net worth of $980 million. In 1978 Ryuji Arai established Bic Camera Inc  which sold appliances and electronics across Japan.

 

Bic Camera which was founded in 1968 owns and operates 45 stores and it is the second largest electronics retailer in Japan behind Yamada Denki. At the start, Bic Camera specialized in selling cameras at discounted prices. Later they expanded into personal computers, home appliances, bedding, golf equipment, toys and bicycles among others.

 

In 1994, the company split the computers into a new company known as Bic Personal Computer Hall. The company was absorbed back into the main company in 2000 due to lower demand in personal computers.

 

In August 2023, the company generated $5.6 billion in revenues for the fiscal year.

 

The billionaire also owns shares in Hit Communications Holdings and Seed which is a contact-lens manufacturer.

 

Ryuji Arai is a self-made millionaire. He also owns majority shares in Nippon BS Broadcasting (established in 1999) which is a listed satellite TV network. Bic Camera is the majority shareholder in Nippon BS.
