Shimano has been a manufacturer of bicycle parts for over 100 years and is listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange.  The company also manufactures rowing and fishing tackle.

 

The company was founded by Shozaburo Shimano as Shimano Iron Works in 1921 and they had only one lathe which was used to manufacture bicycle parts.

 

In 1970, Shimano began manufacturing fishing tackle and was listed on Tokyo Stock Exchange two years later.
