Former Harambee Stars defender and Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) President James Situma has enrolled for a course in Business Administration at Zetech University.

The 34 year old will also pursue a course in Sports management afterwards.

Speaking on Thursday, Situma said: ‘’I am proud to join Zetech University and pursue a two year course in Business Administration as a foundation programme then later take a three year Diploma in Sports Management.’’

According to Situma, Sports personalities need education to manage their careers better.

Zetech University Vice Chancellor Prof Njenga said that James Situma will serve the football fraternity better through the training he’ll get at Zetech University.

‘’We are proud to absorb James Situma and empower him to invent his future through quality education that will contribute to his leadership at KEFWA. As Zetech University, we are keen on working with the sports sector in their areas of interest even as they sharpen their skills on the field. Said Prof. Njenga

James Situma wants to use the training and experience he has to build capacity among the upcoming generation footballers and encourage them to invest in education. This is in line with KEFWA’s mission to advocate for Kenyan footballers’ rights and enhance their lives through partnerships with relevant institutions.

James Situma started his football career in 2003 and retired early this year. He played for six local football clubs including Mathare United, Sofapaka FC and Tusker FC.

He also played for Albanian club FK Tirana. Some of the memorable football moments in Situma’s football career include:

  • Won the title with Sofapaka as a acaptain in 2009
  • He lifted the Cecafa trophy in 2013 with Harambee Stars
  • He won the GoTv Shield Cup and the Kenya Premier League title with Tusker FC in 2016.
