Jaap Stam has resigned as manager of Feyenoord after a 4-0 loss to Ajax Amsterdam in De Klassierker on Sunday.
Jaap Stam has endured a difficult season with Feyenoord since taking over the club from Giovanni van Bronckhorst. He has only managed to guide the club to 3 wins in 11 Eredivisie matches.
The loss to Ajax Amsterdam leaves Feyenoord at position 12 in the Eredivisie table.

Stam, who is a former Manchester United player, previously managed Championship Club Reading and Eredivie Club PEC Zwolle.
He told the Clubs website:’’Ive thought about it a lot and for a long time. My final conclusion is that it is better for the club, the players and myself if I step aside.’’
Feyenoord technical director Sjaak Troost added:’’ Thye coach certainly still had our support and the players also wanted to continue with him, but if someone says, ‘I nolonger believe in it and I don’t want to carry on, ‘we respect that and it will stop. What a shame.’’
