Dr. Dan Gikonyo confirmed that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua fell ill with chest pains and was rushed to Karen Hospital as his impeachment motion was going on at the Senate of Kenya.
This was also confirmed by his lawyer Senior Counsel Paul Mwite. Dr. Gikonyo indicated that he needs to keep his patient under observation for 48 to 72 hours.
While he is away due to sickness, the Senate chose to continue with the impeachment process. Some people observed that this means the Deputy President did not enjoy fair hearing as a result.
Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua is accused of 11 charges which he was supposed to defend if he had not become sick.
If he is successfully impeached, he will immediately cease to hold office of the deputy president.
