At around 1:00 am Thursday 14th, September, 2017 the Isiolo market caught fire and the traders’ merchandise was reduced into ashes.
I had just arrived in the town the previous evening and was spending the night at Silver Bells Hotel. It was so sad for those traders.
On that day, Thur, the Cabinet Secretary for Devolution Hon. Mwangi Kiunjuri and Isiolo County Governor Mr. Kuti visited the traders and donated to them Ksh. 500,000. The governor donated Ksh. 1 million shillings to the traders.
