The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India has surpassed five million.
According to the data collected and compiled by the Johns Hopkins University, a total of 5,020,359 cases have been confirmed as of Wednesday at 1000HRS EAT.
The deadly virus has also claimed 82,066 lives in the Asian country.
A total of 3.9 million patients have recovered.
The death rate is lower than in many countries with a high caseload.
India is second leading country in the number of confirmed cases. The United States is the leading country with 6.6 million confirmed cases.
The government of India is in the process of relaxing restrictions so as to boost the economy.
Gyms are the latest to reopen. Learning institutions remain shut.
