The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) chairperson Wafula Chebukati has said that the polling stations will have the ballot papers by August 6th.
He said this during National Council on Administration of Justice meeting. The meeting was held on Friday. He also added that the elections will be of success and the commission is ready to perform its duty.
‘’we have engaged and whatever challenges that were there have been overcome, we have election materials which are strategic materials, ballot papers, they are coming in from the printers and we shall start deploying them to the field and will be there on or we before the 6th of August just before the elections,” Chebukati said.
‘’What we are currently undertaking is the training of the poll officials and poll agents, those who have been given to us by the candidates which is ongoing in the constituencies. The training of police officers was concluded last week, and they are ready to be deployed,’’ he added.
On the other hand, Karanja Kibicho, the Interior Permanent Secretary, said that the police officers have already been deployed as a requirement by the commission.

‘’We have been working with IEBC over the last year or so, I can confirm that we are ready, as requested by the IEBC, we have deployed for security on the rest of the areas that are not concerned with elections outside polling centers and our duty is to assure Kenyans that we are safe and ready,” Kibicho said.
The meeting was set to determine how the bodies in charge of the upcoming general elections are prepared and what should be improved.
