In this article, we give a step-by-step tutorial on how to do a SWOT analysis. SWOT means Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
Establish the objective
At the top of the page, write the name of the project or strategy on which you want to do a SWOT analysis.
Form a grid
Draw a squared table and divide it into four smaller squares.
Label each Square with one letter (SWOT)
Strengths
|
Weakness
|
Opportunities |
Threats
|
The above are just titles under which you will feed with more details after thinking strategically or after having a discussion with stakeholders.
Add content under each title
Under each title add the relevant content. This content may be qualitative or quantitative depending on the type of company you are handling. You can list the content in bullet form.
Conclusion
After drawing the table and inserting content under each title, it is now time to conclude. What is the overall picture out of the SWOT analysis? Do the positives outweigh the negatives or vice versa? If there are too many negatives, it is recommended that you abandon the strategy.
