Sharing is Caring

Nurse guilty of unlawfully sedating patients at Blackpool hospital. A National Hospital Service nurse and care assistant friend found guilty of drugging patients on a hospital stroke unit for their own ‘amusement’ and ‘easy life’.

Charlotte Wilmot and Catherine Hudson are reported to have targeted patients at Blackpool Victoria Hospital if they disliked them or their relatives.

The friends were warned that they may be imprisoned for their sins. The two exchanged messages on WhatsApp and these were revealed after alleged misconduct. Inn one of the messages, Hudson wrote:  ‘I sedated one of them to within an inch of her life lol. Bet she’s flat for a week haha xxx.’

In another message, Hudson wrote that she was going to ‘kill bed 5’ and even planned to provide one patient with ‘the best sleep she ever had’.

‘What a lovely day I have had in blue bay today,’ Hudson wrote in another message read to the jury. She also added that “sedated all the troublemakers lol xxx.”

In May 2016, Wilmot responded to a message suggesting the sedation of a patient which she said ‘Ha ha yeah sedation we love it.’

Hudson was also convicted of conspiring with a junior colleague, Catherine Wilmot to administer a sedative to a third patient.

Prosecutors discovered a ‘culture of abuse’ in the unit following the investigations. Judge Robert Altham jailed Hudson following the verdicts which were arrived after 14 hours of serious deliberations.
