Kenya has a long history of Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) stretching 18 years. But formal engagement in this model of business. Governments in Africa have found this as an alternative source of resources in the shrinking fiscal space.
Below is a brief summary of Kenya’s history with PPPs:
2007: Vision 2030 was launched
2009: PPP regulations were approved
2010: First PPP Committee and Secretariat established
2011: PPP Policy released
2013: PPP Act enacted
2014: National PPP passed
2016: Draft Amendment of PPP Act 2016 to take care of County governments.
Note that PPP is a procurement activity.
