There has been a surge in Covid-19 cases despite having a self-proclaimed herbal medicine.
In the past 1 month Covid-19 cases have quadrupled. All the while, Madagascar’s president, Andry Rajoelina, has been promoting a herbal concoction called Covid-Organics as the cure of Covid-19.
There has been over 13,000 infections and 162 deaths in Madagascar so far.
The Malagasy Institute of Applied Research produced the Covid-Organics from Artemisia plant as well as other Malagasy plants.
Earlier this month President Andry Rajoelina distribute the herbal medicine alongside other essential food stuff such as rice, sugar and oil and told the residents of the Capital City Antananarivo that in the city where the medicine has been distributed there are fewer cases.
In my honest opinion, more African nations should be involved in the race for a cure for Covid-19. Who knows, we may be having the cure and vaccine here on the African soil.
Antananarivo should be praised for making the attempt not condemned. Those who excel in science do so by experimenting with various possibilities. It is a trial and error game. Madagascar keep trying.
