Harry Maguire becomes the most expensive defender
Harry Maguire joined Manchester United from Leicester City FC at a fee of £80M. This fee makes him the most expensive defender after surpassing Virgil Van Dijk’s transfer fee of £75M from Southampton to Liverpool. Leicester was holding out for a bid of £90M before agreeing to a compromise.
Harry Maguire previously joined Leicester City from Hull City at a combined fee of £17M in 2017. He went on to make 76 appearances for the Foxes scoring 5 goals in the process.
Manchester United had to pay a record fee for the 26 year old who was described by Manchester United Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as one of the best centre-backs in the game.
Harry Maguire Signed a six year contract at Manchester United with an option of another year. Much is expected from him considering his transfer fee.
