Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara has named Minister of Defence Hamed Bakayoko as Prime Minister.
Mr Bakayoko acted as Prime Minister on interim basis when his predecessor Amadou Gon Coulibaly was out of the country for treatment and after his death.
Amadou Gon Coulibaly died on July 8.
Mr Bakayoko will continue working as the Defence Minister.
Mr Bakayoko, 55, has been the Defence Minister since 2017 after serving as the interior minister since 2011.
Minister Bakayoko is seen as a potential presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.
President Ouattara, 78, is expected to announce next week whether he’ll be running for the third term.
The opposition has insisted that the president would be violating the constitution if he’ll be on the ballot.
President Ouattara had announced earlier this year that he would not vie for the third term.
The West African country is scheduled to hold elections on October 31.
