Hamas leader Moussa Abu Marzouk, a senior member of Hamas politburo was interviewed by the Economist in Doha, Qatar.
This happened 3 days after Hamas killed 1,200 people in Israel. He refused to admit that Hamas had planned to kill civilians.
He also refused to admit that most Hamas leaders were aware in advance of the planned attacks
