Government Internet shutdowns are on the increase
Internet disruptions and shutdowns by the governments are on the increase across the world. This has happened in India, Pakistan, Iraq, Ethiopia and Turkey in the past.
According to AccessNow (digital rights advocacy organization), in 2018 alone, there were 188 government internet shutdowns. Compare that to a mere 33 back in 2015.
