Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo is working from isolation after he went on a two-week quarantine as a precautionary measure after a member of his close circle tested positive for Covid-19.
However, it remains unclear whether the person who tested positive is a family member or his staff.
President Akufo-Addo tested negative for the virus according to a statement from the government on Saturday. He will however follow the doctor’s advice as a precaution.
Ghana is one of the hardest hit countries in the Sub Saharan Africa. A total of 20,085 coronavirus cases have been confirmed with the virus claiming 122 lives.
Last week, Ghana’s industry minister Carlos Ahenkorah resigned after he broke self-isolation measures after testing positive for the deadly virus.
