Ghana’s president Nana Akufo-Addo said on Sunday that health minister Kwaku Agyeman Manu is in a stable condition after contracting the deadly virus.
‘’Let us wish our hardworking minister for health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, a speedy recovery from the virus, which he contracted in the line of duty,” President Akufo-Addo said in a broadcast while giving an update on the coronavirus situation in Ghana.
Mr Akufo-Addo confirmed that final year students in secondary schools and universities would resume classes on Monday June 15.
Wearing of face masks is now compulsory in Ghana and police have started enforcing the directive.
Restrictions on religious gatherings have been eased in Ghana. However, the country’s borders remain closed.
Ghana has carried out one of the highest number of tests in the continent.
The West-African country has a population of about 30million people. So far, more than 250,000 coronavirus tests have been conducted.
Nearly 12,000 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Ghana with the virus claiming 54 lives. About 4,000 patients have recovered.
