George Clooney rejected a multi-million-dollar paycheck for a foreign airline commercial after discussing it with his wife, Amal Clooney. The couple decided that it is not worth it.
“It was [associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times,” Clooney said. “And so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it.’”
Clooney didn’t name the country nor the airline in question. This did not come as a surprise because he has in the past call out various issues such as racism. During his interview with the Guardian, Clooney ruled out a run for a political office saying that “because I would actually like to have a nice life.
Clooney has advertised Nespresso coffee for over 20 years which has earned a handsome £30 million plus in the process. He co-founded the tequila company known as Casamigos which he sold for a cool $1 billion or £780 million.
Clooney has also had a very successful film career as an actor, producer, and director.
“Well, yeah. I was offered $35m for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal [Clooney, the human rights lawyer he married in 2014] about it and we decided it’s not worth it. It was [associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: ‘Well, if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it.’”
Clooney directed his new film known as The Tender Bar which stars Ben Affleck. He is an old-fashioned movie star who does not bother with relatability. George Clooney has been famous for over 30 years and has not suffered any of the obstacles that fall on celebrities. There are no photos or videos of him drunk, no misguided tattoos, no appearances on reality TV and no affairs with the nanny.
George Clooney has a brand which is always carefully cultivated for class. He has always been making wise choices with his films.
Clooney prefers to keep his four children out of the media spotlight unlike other celebrities. Clooney has played a great role in other films such as The Ides of March, Good Night and Good Luck. He directed, produced and starred the last two movies.
“In general, there just aren’t that many great parts – and, look, I don’t have to act. My wife and I had this conversation when I turned 60 this summer. I said: ‘I can still bounce around pretty good, and we both love what we do. But we gotta make sure we don’t book ourselves silly.’ So, part of it is just us making sure we live our lives.”
