The KTN anchor Joy Doreen Kiira was arrested in Kasese, Uganda after she posted a picture of the burning Rwenzori palace on social media. This was after the Kasese massacre which lead to death of 55 people.
Joy Doreen was arrested alongside her fiance and three other people. They were detained at central police station in Kasese. It was also reported that King Charles Mumbere of Rwenzururu Kingdom was also arrested for incitement of violence and harboring of militiamen. The militiamen had attacked a police post in Kasese.

It’s interesting to note that Joy Doreen was arrested a day after her wedding at her home town. After her arrest there was an outrage by Kenyans on twitter. They pointed out that the Ugandan government is attacking media freedom and freedom of expression.
It is also reported that Joy Doreen had entered a restricted area which was cordoned off by the police. On twitter the #FreeJoyDoreen was trending for most of Monday morning.
Note that by the time we went to press, Joy Doreen Kiira had been released.
