Michael Hidalgo, France’s 1984-winning coach, has passed on at the age of 87.
Hidalgo managed France for 8 years after working as an assistant Head Coach, and he lead the team to their first ever major title success before stepping aside for Henri Michel.
As a player, Hidalgo represented Le Havre, Reims and Monaco.
Hidalgo’s most recent job in top-level football was with Olympique Marseille, where he was a Director of football between 1986 and 1991.
