During the Mashujaa day celebrations at Kericho Green Stadium, a stampede was experienced.
Four people were reported dead, 13 injured in the incident.
According to police report, the stamped happened at Gate C of the stadium after a hot tea vendor accidentally spilled her beverage on some people causing the stampede.
Members of the public mistook the hot tea for a tear gas. Three police officers were among those injured. The injured were rushed to Kericho Level 5 Hospital for treatment.
Bodies of those who lost their lives were taken to the hospital morgue where they are awaiting postmortem and identification.
