Football Kenya Federation (FKF) unveiled a Ksh 90 Million sponsorship deal for three years with betting firm Betika on Tuesday.
Hence, the country’s 2nd ranked Football League will change its name from the National Super League to Betika Super League.
According to the sponsorship terms, each team in the competition will receive Ksh 750,000 grant each season. The clubs will also be given balls, nets, kits and other sports equipment.
The 20 teams set to benefit from this sponsorship deal include:

- Mt Kenya United
- Kenya Police
- Murang’a Seal
- FC Talanta
- Coast Stima
- Fortune Sacco
- Administration Police
- Vihiga Bullets
- APS Bomet
- Modern Coast Rangers
- Kibera Black Stars
- St Joseph’s Youth
- Eldoret Youth
‘’This partnership confirms our commitment to investigating in our community through sports, arts and culture which football being a key focus,’’ Explained John Mbatiah the head of partnership at Betika.
Football Kenya Federation President Nick Mwendwa was delighted with the deal.
‘’I am delighted with this deal because it is a sign of things to come. Our eventual target is to stop relying on the government for funding even as we nurture these talents at the grassroots. ‘’ Said Mwendwa.
Mwendwa also lauded that the sponsorship came at crucial time when the federation was struggling with finances.
The top two teams at the end of the NSL football season get promoted automatically to the Country’s top top tier league Kenya Premier League. The third placed team has to play a two leg playoff match with the 16th placed team in the Kenya Premier League.
Betika also sponsors Kenya Premier League team Sofapaka. Betika recently launched Betika na Community Cup whose first tournament was held at Machakos. The betting company also plans to roll out the same in the other Counties in Kenya.
