Portugal head coach Fernando Santos will remain in the role until 2024 after the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) extended his contract.
The 65-year-old took charge of the Portugal national team in 2014 and led the team to win Euro 2016 and the inaugural Nationals League Finals last year.
His previous contract was to expire after Euro 2020, which was postponed to 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Santos will remain in charge for that tournament and his extension includes the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and Euro 2024 too.
Under Santos, Portugal have won 44 out of 71 games. He holds the record for the Portugal coach with the most wins.
“It’s a privilege for me and for my coaching staff to continue with this project,” Santos said.
“We know we won’t be able to win everything, but we will always try.”
Santos was previously in charge of FC Porto, Sporting Lisbon and Greece.
FPF president Fernando Gomes said: “It was an easy decision to make considering we are renewing the contract of a European champion. He is a winner.”
