Everton midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin will be sidelined for at least six months after sustaining an Achilles injury in a training session on Thursday.
The 24-year-old joined Everton from Bundesliga side Mainz 05 for £25M last summer.
The Ivory Coast international started only one Premier League game after picking up a thigh injury that required surgery.
He had been training at Everton’s Finch Farm training facility after Carlo Ancelotti’s squad returned to prepare for the resumption of the league next month.
There are fears that Gbamin could be out of action for 9 months before he will be ready to return to competitive football action.
