The Government of Ethiopia now blames the United States (US) and the European Union (EU) for increasing Tigray rebels. It accuses the US and EU for collaborating with the rebels after the EU and US envoys visit in Ethiopia.
The purpose of the envoys was to restore services in the province before a senior official in Ethiopian Government said that the diplomats are siding with rebels.

Recently, the two parties agreed to negotiate on how to end the war. The rebels, also known as the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) has been in disagreement with the central government since November 2020.
The government officials said they are ready to talk but the TPLF gave conditions before communications start.
One of the conditions is the services to be restored. The envoys said that there should be swift restoration of electricity, banking, telecom and other services in the region.
This decision from the envoys made the government accuse the of siding with the rebels. The conflict in the country has led to death of thousands of people and displacement of millions.
The talks between the two parties are believed to bring a better and long-lasting solution of the conflict. “the only game in town is talking, because its alternative, shooting, will have disastrous consequences.” Spokesperson of the TPLF, Getachew Reda said.
