Elon Musk has stated that he might appoint his successor as Twitter CEO by the end of 2023.
‘I’m guessing probably towards the end of this year should be good timing to find someone else to run the company,’ he told the World Government Summit conference in Dubai via video link.
‘I need to stabilise the organisation and make sure it’s in a healthy place and that the product road-map is clearly laid out… I think it should be in a stable position around the end of this year.’
Elon Musk took over as CEO of Twitter Inc in October 2022 as part of his $44 billion acquisition of the firm.
Elon Musk does not expect to be a permanent CEO of Twitter and will therefore hand over the leadership to someone else.
In December 2022, Elon Musk tweeted a poll asking people whether he should step down as CEO of Twitter. A large number of those who participated 17.5 million voted yes.
Elon plans to resign as Twitter CEO as soon as he gets a suitable person to take over. He also revealed that once he hands over leadership, he will be in charge of servers and software teams at the company.
Forbes Magazine ranks Elon Musk as the second-wealthiest person on earth behind Bernard Arnault of France. Elon has a net worth of USD $200 billion.
