The latest reports reaching our desk from Cairo, Egypt indicate that unvaccinated citizens will not be allowed to access government offices by December. This was revealed by the Adviser to the Health and Population Minister, Aysam Salah. Citizens will be required to prove that they already received a vaccine of they produce a document showing a negative Covid test results.

 

This ban will also affect civil servants who are unvaccinated because if they do not want to be vaccinated, they will be required to undertake a weekly PCR analysis. The government official said this interview with a local TV station – al-Youm.  

 

By end of October Egypt had administered 35 million Covid-19 vaccine doses at a cost of $400. On January, Egypt commenced their vaccination programme starting with the priority groups. They later expanded to include university students. Right now, citizens are free to register for the jab. Egypt aims to vaccinate 40 million people by December.

 

A total of 336,582 cases have been reported in Egypt and 19,011 out of which 282,514 recovered and 19,011 died from the virus. Currently, Egypt is in the fourth wave with daily cases having increased ten times  compared to the numbers recorded at the end of July. The Ministry of Health revealed that these numbers reported represents just 10 percent of the actual cases.
