Sharing is Caring

Nairobi County plans to implement a deficit budget in FY 2019/2020. This means that the county is planning to spend slightly more resources than it plans to raise from various sources of revenue.

Allow me to illustrate that, Nairobi County is planning to spend Ksh. 35,284 million but the county is able to raise just Ksh. 34,584 million. This means that Nairobi County will have to raise Ksh. 700 million from loans.

It is not clear on how the county will raise that amount amidst colossal loans which amounted to Ksh.  70 billion as at 31st March, 2019 as per the Nairobi County Debt Management Strategy Paper 2019.

Nairobi County should work towards having a balanced budget for the FY 2019/2020 in order to have efficient service delivery for the people of Nairobi.
