Atletico Madrid have confirmed that forward Diego Costa has left hospital after a successful neck injury.
The club confirmed this week that the striker was to undergo surgery after tests revealed that Costa had suffered a cervical disk herniation.
The Brazil-born Spain striker was discharged on Friday after his operation and he is expected to be out of action for up to three months.
‘’The functional recovery period is to begin after few days of rest.’’ Atletico Madrid said in a statement.
Diego Costa has scored only twice in 15 appearances this season, having struggled to match the initial impact of new signing Joao Felix.
The Club has also confirmed that Joao Felix will be back in action after he passed fitness tests following an ankle injury last month. He is in line to play this weekend.
Atletico Madrid are placed third in the Spanish Laliga table with 24 points after 13 matches. They play Granada away on Saturday.
