The Tanzania Communication Regulatory Authority TCRA (TCRA) has banned Diamond Platinumz’s Wasafi FM for seven days effective September 12. The ban was announced on Friday, September 11.
The punishment was as a result of violating communication regulations and airing abusive language.
TCRA Director General James Kilaba said the offence was committed on August 1 and 4 on two programs; the switch and Mashamusamu.
The presenters aired contents contrary to the regulations.
In addition to the suspension, Wasafi Fm was required to apologize before September 12.
“From the moment I make this announcement, the station is required to stop regular programming and air an apology for the remaining hours of Friday, before starting serving the ban on September 12,” Mr Kilaba said.
Wasafi FM posted the apology on their Instagram account.

About two weeks ago, Clouds FM and Clouds Tv were suspended for a week after the two stations violated election coverage.
The two announced the result of party nominations without approval from the commission in charge.
