Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies has won the Bundesliga Rookie of the year award for 2019/2020 season.
The 19-year-old Canadian star came top in a poll in which fans, clubs and pundits voted.
He beat Dortmund star Erling Haaland to the award despite the former Salzburg forward having been named Rookie of the month two times since moving to Germany in January.
Other nominees include Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram, FC Cologne defender Ismail Jakobs and Jonjoe Kenny, on loan at Schalke from Everton.
To qualify as a Bundesliga ‘Rookie’, a player must be under the age of 23 when the season starts and cannot have started a Bundesliga match in any of the previous campaign.
He must also have played no more than 450 minutes of action across the previous campaigns.
During Tuesday’s title-clinching game against Werder Bremen, Davies was sent off in the 79th minute, but not before being clocked at running 36.51 kilometres per hour, the fastest ever speed timed in the league.
Davies has played 28 times in the League this season, having moved to Germany from Vancouver Whitecaps in January.
With the Bundesliga title secured, Bayern now turn their attention to the UEFA Champions League and DFB Pokal Cup.
Bayern hold a 3-0 advantage over Chelsea from the first leg in the UEFA Champions League last-16.
They are also through to the DFB-Pokal Cup final at the Olympiastadion in Berlin on July 4, when they’ll face Bayer Leverkusen.
