Serie A club AS Roma have confirmed that defender Davide Zappacosta is injured. The Italy international is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The right back ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament yesterday in a training session.
The 27 year old has only managed to play 12 minutes for AS Roma since he joined the club from Chelsea on loan at the beginning of this season.
A statement from AS Roma’s website read: ‘’During Friday’s training session, defender Davide Zappacosta suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, in a non-contact incident. The Club would like to offer its sincerest sympathies to the player and wishes him a quick and full recovery.’’
Zappacosta is likely to be sidelined for up to 5 months to recover fully.
