David M. Blitzer, PhD
David Blitzer is serving S&P Global as the Managing Director and Chairman of Index Committee at S&P Dow Jones Indices. He is responsible for selection, analysis and management of index security.
Before becoming Chairperson of the Index Committee, he was the company’s Chief Economist.
David Blitzer also served in other positions such as Corporate Economist at McGraw-Hill and Senior Economic Analyst with the National Economic Research Associates. He has engaged in consultancies with various public and private companies.
Dr. David Blitzer has in the past won that William F. Sharpe Indexing Lifetime Achievement Award. He is an author having penned great works such as: Outpacing the Pros: Using Indices to Beat Wall Street’s Savviest Money Managers (2001).
Dr. Blitzer is a graduate of Cornell University with an engineering undergraduate degree from Cornell University. He later proceeded to pursue a Master of Arts (MA) Degree in Economics (George Washington University) and later a doctorate degree in economics from Columbia University.
