The High Court of Uganda has ruled that Members of Parliament to refund all the money that they had received in the name of fighting Covid-19 in their constituencies.
The Observer newspaper reported that at least Euros 2.4 million was wired into the personal bank accounts of Ugandan MPs at the beginning of April.
The money they too was part of a larger budget which was to be used for raising awareness about Covid-19. Later the MPs decided to pay the amount into their private bank accounts.
President Yoweri Museveni expressed his displeasure following the sharing of the public money among MPs.
According to Uganda’s Ministry of health website there were 81 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 52 recoveries and zero deaths as at 30th April.
