Tunisia football Federation says its top flight domestic league could resume in August if the government agrees.
The federation issued a statement on Friday saying it had revised its hopes of restarting the campaign on June 10th but the authorities had not approved its schedule for a return to training.
Football activities were suspended in Tunisia since March due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
Esperance sit on top of the league with 44 points after 16 matches.
The new top flight season is expected to kick off on 24th October.
The lower leagues would begin six days later and cup games will be scheduled to fit in with the new calendar.
The federation reiterated that it was ‘’anxious to protect the players’’, giving a priority to their health before anything else.
Mauritius, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Angola, Guinea and Ethiopia ended their campaigns prematurely.
