For the first time since early March, Tunisia has recorded zero Covid-19 cases, health authorities confirmed on Monday.

The government is planning to further ease restrictions on movement and businesses.

Tunisia reported the first coronavirus case on 2nd March and as at now, 1032 cases have been confirmed with the virus claiming 45 lives.

Tunisia, which has about 500 intensive care beds, said 745 patients have already recovered and only 11 were still in hospital.

Last week, Tunisia started easing its coronavirus lockdown, reopening food, construction and transport sectors and allowing half of the government employees to return to work.

Shopping centres, clothing shops and hairdressers will reopen on Monday.

The key tourism sector could lose $1.4Billion and 400,000 jobs due to the coronavirus pandemic.
