Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday presided over the swearing-in of three new members of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission and the Teachers Service Commission at the Supreme Court.
Maraga called on the new members to be true to their oath and uphold the integrity of the two commissions.
Mr. Mbage Njuguna Ng’ang’a and Ms Leila Abdi Ali were sworn in as members of the Teachers Service Commission as Ms. Amina Abdallah took oath of office as member of Salaries and Remuneration Commission.
Maraga said that the two commissions perform crucial roles in the country.
Maraga called on the Teachers Service Commission to ensure that learning continues during this Covid – 19 pandemic.
‘’Indeed, we have seen efforts by the teachers and schools trying to ensure that learning continues, even as students stay at home ,’’ Said Maraga adding that he would like to see the TSC deliver on legitimate and important expectations.
The CJ said that the teachers are entrusted with children and should mold them into responsible citizens and added that the management and motivation of teachers to do their work largely rests with the TSC.
